Lorry Smashed on Railway Crossing

HIT BY SHUNTING TRUCKS TWO MEN INJURED; ONE SERIOUSLY Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Last Night. As the result of a rake of trucks colliding this afternoon with a motor lorry at a crossing on the railway line which runs along the foreshore fronting Anderson’s Bay road two men received injuries which necessitated their removal to hospital, one of them being placed on the seriously ill .list. The injured men were: John Forrester, a married man residing at 55 Fitzroy street, Caversham, internal injuries, concussion and shock, placed on the seriously ill list. George Mason, a married man, aged 23 years, residing at Fairfield, shock and abrasions to face and bands. Shortly before 3 o’clock tho lorry, driven by Aiasou, commenced to cross the line at the rear of the line of trucks which were being shunted. The trucks were stationary when the lorry reached tho line but just as it was halfway across the rake moved backwards and crashed into it. The lorry was thrown on its side, the body and cau being smashed almost to matchwood and Mason and Forrester were caught under the wreckage before they could spring clear.
