Strong Recommendation to Mercy
PALMERSTON CONVICTIONS RECALLED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A very strong recommendation to mercy because of the prisoner’s youth was added by the jury in the Supreme Court to-night when it found Henry Hedley Briant Maunder, a labourer, oged 22, guilty on a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond. The basis of the charge against Maunder was the allegation that he had habitually consorted with reputed thieves since his convictions at Palmerston North on February 10, 1935, and May 17, 1035, for being idle and disorderly. More than 20 police officers gave evidence for the Crown. Prisoner was remanded for sentence.
