MEAN TIME OF HIGH WATER AT MANAWATU HEADS. , FEBRUARY, 1307.

At Flock House (Bulls) on Wednesday, Mr. T. R. Lees asked Hon. Mr. Lee Martin to accept on behalf of the Government a number of articles of considerable historical significance which are in the hostel, and to place them in the Dominion Museum. Mr. Lee Martin was also asked to accept for Flock House as a gift from tho trustees personally the whole of the church furniture in the big hall, and also tho cups and trophies donated for competition. Sir James Allen, one of the trustees, specifically asked that the silver cup and medals presented by him be handed over for permanent competition

“It is not befitting of you to put a question to a man leading him to believe that you have evidence to the contrary when you have not," his Honour Mr. Justice Johnston admonished counsel in tho Supremo Court yesterdaj'. Counsel replied that such was not his intention. His Honour common ted that the witness under examination was giving his evidence clearly and straightforwardly. “When you put a question and got an answer, it is not proper, in fact it is not fair, to put another construction on it. It is for the jury to place a construction on the answer/' was another comment by his Honour,
