Common Assault on Girl
ACCUSED LENIENTLY DEALT WITH. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Feb. JO. In the Supreme Court to-day Cyril Nugent Chettleburgh Etheridge, aged 51, was found guilty of common assault on a girl with a recommendation to leniency. He was fined £2 and ordered to pay half the cost of the prosecution. When it hit the car he knew it was a motor-cycle. When he spoke to Chrystall at the roadside, Chrystall implored him not to report the accident to the police aud to get rid of the motor-cycle as quickly as possible. He told Chrystall that was not possible and sent Lamb to inform a doctor and the police. When Chrystall senior arrived, witness said to him (in the presence of plaintiff): “ Well, Jack, your boy is the most honest I have ever met. He is the first I have known who admitted voluntarily he was in the wrong. After cross-examination of witness, the Court adjourned until this morning.
