Discontent in the Australian Navy?
LATE EDITION
ADMIRAL DENIES ALLEGATIONS. United Press Association—By Ehtctrlc Telesrraph.—Copyright Received Thursday, 2 a.m. SYDNEY, Feb. 10. Reports of discontent in the Australian Navy have been prevalent lately. Ratings complain that many former privileges are disappearing and irksome conditions introduced. The fleet at present is at Jervis Bay, and the men are reported to be very resentful of being excluded from the recreational facilities available there to holiday visitors. Rear-Admiral Lane Poole denies, the allegations of discontent, and declares that he would be the first to hear legitimate grievances. He is not aware of acts of sabotage lately, but minor acts had occurred about a year ago. He was very proud of the loyulty and efficiency of the officers and men under him, and added that they compared very well with the men of the Royal Navy.
