Manawatu Speedway

TO-NIGHT’S STAR PROGRAMME Last week it was announced that arrangements were being made to hold a public wedding on the track of one of the riders, Curly Mossman, prior to tonight’s racing, but unfortunately it has not been possible to do so. However, the Manawatu Speedway this season has shown the way to all other speedways in New Zealand, and it is now recognised as the leading one in the Dominion. To-night the seventh programme of events will take place and another thrilling night’s entertainment is assured patrons of this popular sport, which every night is seeing a larger attendance of the public. The management has secured for to-night two of Australia’s leading broadsiders, both having been selected for the Australian test team. Vic Daggan and “Aussie’’ Milhuish are Australians with a great reputation to maintain, and there are sure to be some hair-raising events during the evening when they meet the Americans, who have this season shown up as exceedingly fast and clever exponents of tho art of cinder-shifting. To add to the programme, two of Auckland’s star riders will also make their tirst appearance on tho local track. They are Brian Smith, and Wei Carey, well known as daring broadsiders. With tho addition of Wellington, Manawatu and Christchurch riders tho best programme of the season should eventuate and once again the speedway motto of “ thrills and more thrills,” will be lived up to. As special events and by request of a largo number of speedway patrons, Putt Mossman will, during tho interval, give some of his daring riding exhibitions on his Indian 4 motorcyclo which has just arrived from America, and as a grand finale he will attempt a double crash through blazing walls. These will be placed on both sides of the track so that all patrons will have a clear view of this amazing fcak
