ELECTRIC COMFORTERS

An electric blanket lias been developed by W. K. Kearsley of the General Electric Research Laboratories. Plugged into a household circuit, it obviates the necessity for any other form of covering, yet automatic Jlly keeps the sleeper warm regardless of temperature changes. It will serve on the sleeping porch as well as in the bedroom. Unlike heating pads, says the inventor, the comforter will give a gentle warmth over a large area, replacing tho the heat lost from the bed. It is not designed to give concentrated heat at any given point. Many safety features

have been incorporated in the comfort* er to make it a safe Joiv-voltage device* Notable is the exceedingly pliable wire used as the heating element. It cannot get too hot, nor can a person re« oeive an electrical shock from it. Electric comforters when manufactured, will come in both* single and double-bed sizes, with plenty of estr# material for tncking in at the foot and sides of the bed where heat is not needed. They wil be washable, and cost aproximately 4 cents a night tc operate, or about the same as a 100 watt bulb.
