Armed Force Only for Defence

CHURCH OF ENGLAND’S ATTITUDE (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Feb. 7. The Church Assembly, after a twodays debate, passed a resolution which affirms that war as a method of settling international disputes is incompatible with the teaching of Christ. The resolution deplores the rearmament throughout the world and calls on Christians to redouble their efforts to promote international good will, and assures the British Government of the Church’s moral eupporfc in all efforts to remove political and economic causes of war, while welcoming the declared policy of the Government of adhering to the League Covenant, using armed force only fer the defence of the country and in the interests of inter national security and peace.
