BRITAIN'S REQUEST AT IMPERIAL CONFERENCE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright. LONDON, Feb. 7. The newspaper “The People” says: “The British Government at the Imperial Conference will request £10,000.000 from the Dominions for defence. It will also ask New Zealand, Australia, Canada and South Africa to build up their own navies, air forces and armies to a strength enabling them to defend their own homes and leave a surplus to help the mother country. “It will be made clear that the Imperial navy is fully occupied in defending Britain and safeguarding sea routes. “It is understood that Britain, in ret irn, will take more goods from the Dominions, especially foodstuffs.”
