The presence of ragwort and the -pectacle of it growing unchecked in >arts of the Bay of Plenty and northrn Poverty Bay districts was comnented upon by the Speaker of the .louse of Representatives, Hon. W. E. .iarnard,, at Hastings yesterday. During his recent cycling tour, he noticed ho said, some * farmers were quite content to allow the weed to grow.with out making any serious effort to eradicate it. One example noticed by Mr. Barnard was that of a large ragwort weed about live feet high standing in an isolated position immediately to the side of a garage connected with a particularly line homestead. “It seems extraordinary that the fanner concerned should allow sueh . a weed to disfigure the landscape and throaton his property," said Mr. Barnard.
