Road Deviation at Gorge Mouth
EXPLANATION TO WOODVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL. At Friday’s meeting of the Woodville County Council the chairman (Mr. M. O. Graingor) explained what had taken place regarding the desired deviation of a new road to avoid the Woodville cemetery. Since the last meeting (at which a deputation from tho borough council had been received) ho had seen Mr. Dinnie, chief engineer for the No. 5 Highways District, at Napier. Arrangements had been made for Mr. Dinnie to visit Woodville, with the chief inspecting engineer. They had paid the visit and informed Mr.
Grainger that the road had reached such a stage that it could not be altered and in any case they considered tho alternative road was not practicable. Nothing further could be done in the matter. Mr. Grainger expressed pleasure at having been able to work amicably with tho cemetery trustees, this co-operation having shown that the local bodies were working together in the interests of the district. Ho thought everybody would agree that nothing more could be done.
