State Houses in Hutt Valley Area

1300 ACRES TAKEN OVER. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The land taken for the State housing Scheme in the Hutt Valley comprises about 1300 acres, and the value is £127,340. Borne of the owners have not yet received notification of the intention to take their land over. The land extends on either side of the main road from Park Avenue to Taita Gorge. On the eastern side of the road the whole of the land has been taken right back to the river, and on the other side the depth of the proposed purchase is about a quarter of a mile. Included in the area is the site of the Taita Hotel. The projected railway line < up the Hutt valley would run through the area, and that possibility has been allowed for in the area to be taken over.
