A schedule has been prepared and is now available to the public, giving in detail the average prices ior the past ten years ot our principal farm products. This has been prepared .by order of the Court of Review to furnish data to Mortgage Review Commissions, to assist them in determining adjustment of liabilities of farmers. The schedule is a comprehensive one containing some 4-3 foolscap pages. A great deal of interesting and useful information is given. It has a value extending far beyond its immediate usage, for this is the first occasion upon which such reliable ana comprehensive data has been prepared in the Dominion. It. is a valuable document for reference by any one who has, or contemplates having, any interest in land. It provides a long-term view of the price levels of farming products that has hitherto been unobtainable. For those who have had to seek “relief” from liability the schedule is most useful. It is the wish of the State that a groat majority of cases be settled voluntarily and generally, such a course is most satisfactory to both borrower and lender. They know, better than any other third party, the circumstances of their mutual situation. By reference to this schedule, they caii now work out for themselves the “standard value” of tho farm’s production. The interest rate for capitalisation purposes is now known, namely, 5 per cent. Living and farm expenses can be determined by the parties in their knowledge of the property. The foundation is now completed upon which negotiations for voluntary settlement can be undertaken.
