HIGH PRICES FOR STUD SOUTHDOWNS

I At Feilding Ram Fair HEAVY OFFERING OF FLOCK LOTS. 3 At the second Cay of the Feilding . ram fair yesterday stud and flock . Southdown rams were offered to the , number of 1600 and while the stud lots - excited more competition than did the Romneys sold on the. previous day, the flock lots, excepting in cases of excep- ; tional pens, were rather slow of sale. ; The huge offering of flock rams tendered somewhat to depress the market and while at the outset an average of round about 9gns. appeared to be indicated the selling dragged late in the afternoon and the average finished up at s|gns. which figure is slightly better than that realised last year. ’ The top price for a stud was obtained by Mr. C. F. McLauchlan, of Blenheim, Gsgns. being paid by the Loan and Mer cantile Agency Co. for a fine rani on behalf of a client. The net best price for a stud was 45gns. paid for one offered on account of Mrs. W. Price of Cheltenham, the buyer being Mr. A. Burgess of Rongotea. The stud averaged 32Jgn3. .each.
