Scow Huanui Still Aground

BUT NOW IN SAFER POSITION. The scow Huanui is still aground just inside the Manawatu Hoads on the southern side of tho river. Efforts to get the vessel afloat are continuing and in order to facilitate this, a portion of the vessel’s cargo of coal has been removed. Tho scow, as a result of the salvaging operations, is reported to be now in a much safer position from that in which she lay when first running aground. Very poor tides arc running at the present time and yesterday the m.v. Foxton was prevented from entering port by the shallowness of the water over the bar.
