FORDELL SALE The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report a highly successful sale at Fordell, when an entry of about 9500 sheep was submitted to a large attendance of buyers. I The very best lines of ewes seemed-to jbe comparatively the best value. TITe I two-tooth ewes yarded were not quite so good as usual, one of the lines being . first class. However,, up to 38s 9d was realised for this class. Five-year ewes | sold up to 30s 7d for a line on account jof Mr H. C. Addenbrooke, which was •not quite so high as had been expected. • The same vendor’s -1 and 6-tooth ewes made 38s 9d. A big line of 5-year ewes, J mouths rather short, condition only j fair, made 28s. The 6yr ewes sold at 1 surprisingly good prices. A large number of ewes with very indifferent mouths sold up to 24s 6d, which made the best lines seem reasonable. Lambs sold particularly freely and every pen sold at auction. Values were a fair ! bit above prices at the last few sales and decidedly in sellers’ favour. A line of excellent w.f. wether lambs, sold on account of Air B. W. Burnett, made 19s 2d. Store wethers averaged about 24s for just fair sorts. On account Messrs Hamilton Bros., Parihauhau, 147 4 and syr ewes, 31s; 685 4 and syr ewes, 28s. On account Mr A. H. Maclean, Kauangaroa, 221 m.a. ewes, 27s 8d; 186 shorn b.f. lambs, 16s lid. W. i Burnett, Fordell, 130 wether lambs, 19s 2d. , x \ JOIINSONVILLE SALE r ’ Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., , Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., H report on Johnsonville sale as follows: “To an average attendance of butchers ( we offered a larger yarding of bullocks j than usual, competition was not keen . ■ there being passed lots in all classes. . No station cows came forward, -while a I small yarding of cows ex-dairy met with fair competition. The wethers and , ’ ewes yarded were, for tho most part, , of good quality, a few pens of unfinished ewes coming forward. Wethers sold well, but the demand for ewes was not great, competition being only fair. There was a large yarding of lambs of . mixed quality. Prime quality lambs met with a keen sale while medium and unfinished sorts were not wanted. “We quote:— Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l3 8s 6d to £l4; prime heavy bullocks, £l2 ,13s to £l3; heavy bullocks, £l2 to £l2 4s; light and unfinished bullocks, £lO 10s to £ll 11s; cows ex-dairy, £4 to £5 12s; vealers, 16s to £2. Prime extra heavy wethers, 28s to 28s 9d; prime heavy wethers, 27s to 27s 8d; medium wethers, 25s 4d to 25s lid; prime extra heavy ewes, 21s lOd to 23s Id; prime heavy ewes, 20s 6d to 21s; medium ewes, 17s to 19s 3d; heavy lambs, 24s to 25s 6d; medium lmabs, 23s to 23s sd; light lambs, 21s Id to 20s 2d.
MARTON SALE. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Distributing Co., Ltd., report a yarding of 4800 sheep at the above sale on Tuesday to a good attendance of buyers. The market as a whole was firm for good lambs, but considerably easier on the medium and tail-end lots. , Mr. Henry Galpin’s lambs came forward in excellent condition and realised up to 19s fid. There was a big yarding ' of ewes, principally 6-yr. These were all disposed of at prices ranging from 23s up to 24s sd. With the exception of two pens we disposed of the whole yarding as follows:—Best wether lambs, 38s to 19s fid; good medium, ditto, 13s 3d to 14s 7d; small, ditto, to 9s 3d; good medium woolly w.f. lambs, to 17s 4d; medium woolly b.f. lambs, to 16s; medium shorn, ditto, to 13s Id; small, ditto, to 8s lOd; fat wethers, 255; fat 2-th. ewes, small, 22s 8d; 6-yr. ewes, 23s 3d to 24s sd; aged ewes, good condition, to I6s 9d; cull ewes, 7s to 11s; medium ewe lambs, 23s 4d; stud S.D. ; ewes, £2 Is; best weauer pigs, 12s 6d to ■ 15s; medium, to 10s 6d; small, 7s 6d; 1 slips, 16s. • LEVIN. S The usual weekly stock sale was conducted at the Levin yards on Tuesday, 1 there being a good attendance of buy- * ers. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Company, report that they offered excellent yardings of practically all classes of stock, almost a total clearance being made at the following prices:Pigs: Weaners, 9s to 12s 6d; slips, 14a c
to 17s; small stores, 17s to 21s; large stores, 26s to 31s; porkers, £2 Is, £2 11s, £2 13s to £3. Cattle: Fat cows, £3 12s, £3 17s 6d, £4 15s to £5; store do., £2 17s fid to £3 4s; vealers, £1 2s fid to £2 19s; eighteen month heifers, £3 13s to £4 12s 6d Sheep: Fat lambs to 245; fat ewes, 21s 3d to 25s Id; fat wethers, 27s Id to 27s 9d; b.f. lambs (small), 13s 8d; shorn wether do., 13s 9d to 17s 8d; ewe do., (small), 14s 8d to ISs 7d. ABRAHAM AND WILLIAMS. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report that large offerings came forward in all sections, though dairy cattle showed a slight decline. Prices, which ranged as follows, compared very favourably with recent realisations:— Pigs: Light porkers, 30s, 345, 35s to 38s; medium do., 395, £2 ,1s to £2 2s 6d; heavy do., £2 4s to £3 7s; choppers, 34s to 375; small stores, 10s to 16s 6d: larger do., 17s to 22s 6d; sows to farrow, 37s 6d to £2 Is; sows with litters, £3 30s and £5 ss; baconers, £2 13s.
