Military Camps
SIX IN HAWKE’S BAY THIS YEAR. (Special to “Times 7 ’) HASTINGS, Feb. S. Six main camps will be held in Ti e Hawke ’4 Bay Regimental district this year, and will be shared between *Waipukurau and Dannevirke. In addition to these, several week-end training bivouacs will be held, mainly in tho first part of the 3'ear. No indication of the numbers of men to attend the camp? is at present available. Tho Second Field Company of New Zealand Engineers is at present in camp at Waipukurau, and will strike camp to-day. Th© Ist Battalion of tho Wellington Regiment follows the latte* unit into camp at Waipukurau, officers and N.C.O.’s arriving to-day and tha remainder of tho battalion on Saturday. The camp will be struck on Satueday week. The Second Field Ambulance of the New Zealand Medical Corps w»U hold its annual camp this year at Dannevirko from February 28 to March 5. The Hawke’s Bay Regiment also camps at Dannevirke, officer* and N.C.O. ’s going into camp on March 10, and the main body of th© regiment on March 13. They will remain under canvas until March 20. Lieut.-Colonel A. J. Mtnson, M.C., E.D., will be in command. Th© annual camp of th© Manawatj Mounted Rifles begins at Dannevirke on April 13, and camp will break » week later. Lieut.-Colonel P. D. W. Strachan. E.D., will be in command. The final camp in the district for the rear will be that of the Wellington and East Coast Mounted Rifles at Dannevirke from April 28 to May 6. The officer in command of this camp will bt Lieut.-Colonel H. B. MaunzeF, ED.
