Nurses’ Christian Union Conference Brought to a Close
On Tuesday night the annual conference of the New Zealand Nurses' Christian Union concluded at Wellington, 40 delegates from all parts of the Do minion having attended. They have been in residence at tho Salvation Army Training College. The programme on Tuesday began with a Bible study, “ Witnessing by Serving, ” which was followed by a fellowship group meeting led by Miss P. Avery, of Blenheim, and intercessions. After dinner the delegates were driven to Kclburn and wandered through the Botanical Gardens to the begonia house. At the public meeting in the evening, the college hall was crowded with an attendance of 170 people. After a community sing of favourite hymns and choruses, nearly 2;> members of the Wellington Hospital Group presented a picturesque pageant entitled,
“One Father of All." Its theme was pacificism and it showed all tho nations of tho world, in traditional costume, linked to each other by a common God.
A stirring address on the union motto, “The Love of Christ constrain* eth us," was given, by Dr. John Laird, and two presentations were made to officers. The new president, Mrs. Bayldon Ewen, handed to her predecessor, Mrs. Tythe Brown, a Moffat translation of the Bible and a bouquet. To tho conference secretary, Miss •.!- Sampson, who is leaving next week for a year's trip to England, Mrs. Brown presented, a travelling cushion, a book and a bouquet.
