STARR BOWKETT BUILDING SOCIETY Ballots for freo-of-interest loans 5a groups 5, G and 7 were held on Tuesday evening, the following being successful; Mrs E. Herron, Palmerston North, £SOO, No. 5 Group; Mr S. Smith, Palmerston North, £7OO, and Mr G. R. Ashbridgo, Wellington, £SOO, No. 6 Group; Mr A. A. Thompson, Palmerston North, £SOO, Miss A. Johansen/ Palmerston North £2OO, and Mrs U. J. Bendall, Blenheim, £IOOO, No; 7 Group.. Total £3400. Ballots for return of subscriptions were. hold in Groups 3 and 4, £260 in No. 3 Group and £675 in No. 4 Group being authorised for payment distributed among eight shareholders, £261 being the highest amount receivable by one shareholder. The directors met at the conclusion of the ballots when there wore present, Messrs M. A. Eliott (chairman), J. B. Gorrand, H. Christmas, F. Jackson, S. W. ,Eaplcy, D. F. Smillio and H. F. Wilson. A loan of £iooo was apprpved in Group 6 for the purpose of .erecting a new dwelling, and a loan of £2OO approved in No. 7 Group. Formal business was transacted in other groups and further ballots and tenders will be called for appropriations in several groups for tho March meeting.
