Oyster Workers Want Award
NO FINALITY ON WAGES Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Last Night. The industrial dispute between the Southland oyster trade workers and Stewart Island Canneries Co., Ltd., and the oyster merchants of Southland was heard by the Conciliation Council today. The industry has ‘never had an award and the parties concerned were faced with many problems. The terms and conditions of work were tentatively agreed to but finality could not be reached on the question of wages and the hoaring was adjourned till Febru ary 22.
