Motor-cyclist’s Fatal Collision With Tramcar

EVIDENCE AT INQUEST Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A finding that William Charles Avenell, aged 24, tailor, died in Moxhara avenue on January 25 from injuries sustained when a motor-cycle he was riding collided with a tramcar was returned by tho Coroner (Mr. Gilbertson). The evidence showed that his machine skidded on the rails in a light drizzle and either to got out of the skid or by accident deceased accelerated on to the other set of rails in front Jot a tram coming towards him. Tho tram stopped practically dead. The machine struck it in front throwing the .-pillion rider to the ground and deceased avoiding the kerb came back and was thrown under the centre of the tram. His injuries included a fractured neck, left thigh and right wrist.
