PERSONALITIES
Inspector J. Lander, of Wanganui, is acting as relieving officer in charge of the Palmerston North police district for the Supreme Court session during the absence of Inspector J. Cummings in the South Island. At the request of the Campbell street Church of Christ board of officers, Mr E. H. Ure has consented to act as delegate to the annual conference of the Dominion Churches of Christ which will be held at Palmerston North at Easter.
Mr W. J. Minogue who has been appointed deputy chief postmaster at Christchurch, is a sou of the late Constable Minogue, who was u well-known member of the Police Force, and for a number of years resided at Terrace End. Since joining the service at Palmerston North Mr Minogue has served in a number of centres, and his appointment to Christchurch is welldeserved promotion. Mr. J. Morris, who joined the Bank of New South Wales at Palmerston North in 3004 and is now manager of the branch at Sunshine, Melbourne, was 'a visitor to the weekly gathering of the Palmerston North Rotary Club, where he had the opportunity of renewing a number of acquaintanceships. A son of the late Mr. J. Morris, who Was prominently associated with .the U.F.C.A. firm which formerly conducted business in Palmerston North, and Mrs. Morris, of Apiti, Mr. Morris has been on a three months’ holiday which has taken the form of a health recruiting visit. Mr. Morris was greatly appreciative of the advances made by Palmerston North since he was hero 34 years ago. With Mrs. Morris and his Bon, who has figured on the cricket field of late as a member of the Palmerston team, Mr. Morris is to sail for Sydney on February 12, now greatly improved in health.
