Government Housing Scheme for Hastings
VISIT BY MB. J. A. LEE (Special to * ‘Times’’) HASTINGS, Feb. 3. , There is every possibility of Hastings included in the Government 'a 1 Rational building scheme according to; information given a “ Herald-Tribune 0 j reporter by Mr E. L. Cullen,' who said that he hadj jbeen advised that Mr J. A. Lee, under* j secretary to the Prime Minister and! member-in-charge of the housing! scheme, would shortly be visiting Hast-i ings to inspect a number of properties! that have been offered to the Govern* ment for housing purposes. “There aro five blocks of land underj offer to the Government for building, upou," aaid Mr Cullen. “They range: ! from three acres to nine acres i.nd allj appear to me to be ideal properties for; the purpose. I have been advised by ! Mr Lee that he contemplates making' an early visit to Hastings to inspect} the sites under offer. 1 • \ Asked for further information regarding the possibility of the Government embarking upon a scheme in Hastings, Mr Cullen said he was hopeful that something definite would be announced as the result of Mr Lee’s visit. He was not at liberty at present to mention the localities of the properties under offer, merely contenting himself with paying that they were “scattered over jthe borough." ! Though he had not received any definite information, Mr Cullen expected Mr Lee to visit Hastings towards the [end of next week. J
