Pahiatua Lawn Tennis

YANKEE TOURNAMENT. There was a large entry in the Pahlatua Lawn Tennis Club's mixed doubles on Sunday despite very boisteros weather. The morning’s tomament was won by Miss J. Barraclough and A. Mills and the afternoon winners were Miss J. Cook and R. K. Bamford. Five other pairs scored four wins in the afternJoon session, but were counted out nder the handicap system. Mrs I. Graham spervised the fixture, and under her excellent management the games were concluded without a hitch. The ladies provided refreshments at lunch time and also for the afternoon session. The trophies were presented tr the winners by Mrs Graham, and in the course of his speech the president (Mr W. Hall Watson) expressed gratification at the keenness of members in turning out in such numbers, despite the very windy weather. He also commented on the promise shown by the junior players and said the future of the club seemed assred. Cheers were then called for Mrs Graham. Results are tabulated as under:— Morning play: Miss J. Barraclough and A. Mills, 10 points; Miss M. AleSherry and G. Callender, nine points; Misa M. Bissct and F. Push, eight points; Miss G. Bisset and W. Tinney, eight points; Miss N. Irving and J. Thomson, seven points; Mrs R. Mills and A. Donald, six points; Miss J. Bisset and C. Harvey, five points; Miss J. Cook and E. Broughton, five points; Miss J. Prussing and J. Bloxam, four points; Miss H. Davidson and R. Mills, two points; Mrs Mackley and K. Matthews, two points; Mrs Goer and W. H. Watson, no points; Messrs H. Harvey and L. Hood, no points. Afternoon play: Miss J. Cook and Bamford, eight points; Mrs Cleghorn and Coombcr, eight points; Miss Irving and W. H.
