Rainfall in Feilding
JANUARY’S UNSEASONAL WEATHER In two respects tho weather conditions experienced in January last coincided with those suffered iri tho same month in 1936. The total rainfall measured 4.04 inches in each case, while on January 10 and 11, 1936 and 1937, a fall of 47 points was recorded. These rather remarkable features of the weather records were surprising to Air. F. Alason, of Sandon road, when he was preparing his report for the month and ho stated that he had never before experienced such coincidences. For tho month under review rain fell on 18 days, as against 8 days in January, 1936, and the total fall of 4;.04 inches was well above the average for January of 2.30 inches. Not only was the mouth a wet one but it was characterised by high winds, wind of gale force being experienced on no fewer than 12 days, while hig'h winds were experienced on five days. Such unseasonal weather had interfered considerably with gardening and particularly with vegetables and small fruits.
