Christchurch Wool Sale

RANGE OF PRICES. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Nght. Widespread competition kept values at the second Christchurch wool sale today on levels about the same as thoso reached at the first sale in December with the exception ot medium topmaking halfbreds which were from par to Id cheaper and low crossbreds which rose a penny. All descriptions were just as dear as at the first sale though Japanese buying which dominated tho first sale was much more restrained. Japanese competition on all high quality lines was strong enough to keep good to super halfbreds fully firm to a shade dearer. In these lines local mills competed w-ith great freedom and some high prices were paid, Corriedale ewe wool reaching 27*d. Continental enquiry for all pieces was active and sustained, Franco buying particularly keenly. Bradford bidding was steady on medium lines and for low carpetmukmg crossbreds. American buying was active. Merino fleece wools of whiefi there was a big offering were cheaper than at the last sale though there appeared to be little change in the prices paid for pieces.
