BOISTEROUS CONDITIONS IN CITY ON SATURDAY BOWLERS RETURN GOOD FIGURES Unfavourable conditions prevailed for cricket in tho city on Saturday afternoon, a high win-l which blew unceasingly making matters very trying for players and spectators alike. In the senior A competition a start was made with tho first matches of the second round, while in tho other grades the games commenced the previous Saturday were completed. In all grades tho bowlers were on top, some good figures being returned. D. A. R. Moloney, tho New Zealand representative headed tho batting with 62 not out, while N. Gallichan (5-1) and A. 5.11. Cutler (53) wero also jesponsible for good scores.

Pritchard and Leet Skittle City Council Palmerston won the toss and put City Council in. Tho latter opened badly,, losing C. McVicar with only two runs on the board. S. McVicar, G. Wheatle} 1- , M. Wheatley and Gavey were the only batsmen to reach double iigeres, and the side were all out for 86. Off 17 overs, of which six were maidens, Pritchard took five for 37, while Leet ‘‘bagged” three for 16. Moloney and Robertson opened for Palmerston and an attractive partnership was seen. Robertson was dismiss ed after contributing 22, while Moloney was unbeaten at stumps with 62, which included one six and six fours. Two wickets were down for 101 when the adjournment was taken. Old Boys started badly, losing one for 13 and two for 24, but Gallichan and Hearscy carried tho score along to 90 before a separation was effected. Gallichan fell to a catch after making 54, in which were included three sixes and five fours. When stumps were drawn for the day, Old Boys had five down for 108.
