Friendly Societies
At the fortnightly meeting of Court Manawatu held last Monday evening C.B. Bro. Burgess presided and a fair number of members were present. The Woodwards reported that all sick members were progressing favourably. Apologies for aosence from the meeting were received from Bro. Mcßae am* P.C.B. Bro. Bickering. P.C.B. Bro. Bickering's name was added to the bowls committeo in place of 8.C.8. Bro. Lord’s, who has taken np residence jn another district. It was decided to write 8.C.8. Bro Lord regretting his departure and thanking him for his very valuable services rendered while connected with the activities of the Court and at the same time expressing the wish that he may enjoy success in his new surroundings and at some future date return to the city when the Court members- would-always bo pleased to welcome him back again. It v.-as reported that 8.C.8. Bro. Moore was enjoying a holiday away from the cit\. The Wellington district meeting at which the secretary, 8.C.8. Bro. Edwards, will preside, will be held at Gisborne on February 8, and associated with the personnel of that meeting a.s Court Manawatu delegate, will be 8.C.8. Bro. Burns, who is a candidate for the office of DJ.B. One new member was initiated into the order by C.B. Bro. Burgess, ably assisted by P.C.B. Bro. Robinson. Two new members were proposed for membership. It was decided to play a game of bowls for the Fncndly Societies’ shield at a later date with the Oroua Lodge of Druids,
