Miss Mcßrearty is a Wellington visitor to Palmerston North.

Mr. J. Holmes Runnieies, organist for All Saints* Church, Palmorston North, is spending a holiday in Christchurch. Mr. T. E. Douds, of the staff of West End School, Palmerston North, has received an appointment as solo teacher in charge of the Konini School.

Miss N. E. Ockemlen, of Auckland, is visiting Palmerston North, and is tho guest of Mr and Mrs J. H. Cooper, Church Street, West.

Mr. Bruce Clegg, of Awapuni, who completed the B.A. degree while still a pupil of the Palmerston North Boy if* High School just over a year ago, has now passed the M.A. degree with second-class honours.

Mr. J. liadlicld, who was at one time a member of the telegraphic staff at tho Palmerston North Chief Post Office, has been promoted from the position of supervisor of the superintending engineer ’s office at Aucklan’d to that of stores manager in Wellington.

Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, schools medical officer for the Wanganui Education Board, who has been visiting Mrs Herbert Acton-Adams, Tipapa, Canterbury; also her mother, Mrs W. Gunn, Christchurch, returns to the North Island this week.

Mr. G. Maxwell Davies, formerly a student at Otago University, and later at Massey Agricultural College, who has qualified for the degree of bachelor of agricultural science, ‘ was recently appointed assistant farm assessor under the Government Mortgage Corporation, with headquarters at Taumarunui. Capt. the Hon. Sir Basil Brooke, Minister of Agriculture to the Government of Northern Ireland, is visiting Wanganui, accompanied by Lady Brooke, and they were the guests of tho president and stewards of the Wanganui Jockey Club at tho summer race meeting on Saturday. Air. A. C. Whiting, who for the last 12 mouths has been iu charge of the Milson aerodrome construction work, was farowelled last week by the staff of the P.W.D., on whose bolialf Air. A. R. Achesou presented him with a leather attache case. Air. Whiting has gone to a similar position in North Auckland.

Air. J. K. Hornblow, chairman of tho Palmerston North x. Hospital Board, aceompauied by Air, A. J. Phillipps (managing-secretary) have been on an inspection of the Wanganui, Hawera, Stratford, Hamilton and Auckland Hospitals. Tho purpose of the visit was to exchange ideas on modern methods of hospital work and In particular, tho administration side.
