L' «■ t TOP PRICE AT TOMOANA. MANAWATU AND SOUTHERN HAWKE’S BAY REALISATIONS. HASTINGS, Jan. 30. The annual ram fair held at the Showgrounds, Tomoana, concluded yesterday with the offering of the remainder of the flock Southdowns and the stud entries of both Romneys and Southdowns. For the best quality of stud entries there was a keen demand in which some of tho values realised greatly exceeded vendors’ anticipations. The top price for stud Romneys was 95'ms., for a fine ram offered on account; of* Mr. J. E. Hewitt, of Mangamaire, the purchaser being Mr. J. Collins, Otane. Another fine ram offered on account of Mr. E. C. White, Masterton, bred by Mr. A. V. Reed, realised 85gns., being purchased by Mr. J. D. Ormond, of Wallingford. For the stud Southdowns tlio top price was 44 guineas, secured by a wellknown local breeder, Mr. XV. J. Gimblett, of Ngatarawa, Hastings, the purchaser being Mr. D. N. Lane, of Havelock North.
