Formerly a leading x>ass singer and elocutionist, Mr William Farquhar Young died yesterday in Christchurch. He was known throughout the Dominion for his performances in Scottish and Irish concerts and until recently sang and spoke over the air. He was recognised as having —one of the finest bass voices of his time and refused mauy offers to join opera companies and go abroad. He was for many years in the Post and Telegraph service and was first president of the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association. He was mainly responsible for the establishment of a superannuation system for the Post and Telegraph Department.
