Conscience Money

A woman from Tipton, Indiana, United States, has sent sixpence to the Johannesburg Transport Department to pay a tram fare which she failed to pay to the conductor during a visit to Johannesburg early this year. The woman wrote that during a tramcar journey she went beyond tho stage of the ticket she had paid for and that she did not pay the difference. The matter had often come up in her mind and she enclosed 6d to make good. The department has written a polite letter of acknowledgement and posted it to Indiana.
