Women’s Institutes

SHANNON Among visitors welcomed at the January meeting of the Shannon Women’s Institute, was Mrs Boote, president of the Tokomaru Women’s Institute. After the usual business session, a jolly social afternoon was enjoyed by all. Attractive displays of fancy dancing were given by Shirley Patton (Wellington) and Jane Terniii (Moutoa). In the month’s competitions for a piece of Christmas cake, Mrs Bovis was placed Ist and Mrs L. Satherley 2nd. On the motion of Mrs Waring Taylor, it was resolved that next month tho members should entertain the committee and that tho meeting should be held in the evening instead of the afternoon. Mesdames Taylor and Bovis were appointed to arrange the programme.
