ENGLISH OPINION
MEMORIES OF SPRINGBOKS All English cricket eyes—or nearly all—are locussed on Australia and the Tests, but there are some already contemplating the next English season as well, and, of course, the visit of the New Zealanders. One of these is “Watchman,” of the Sunday Observer. He says:— “The visit of the JNew Zealanders will not set our pulses jumping, as is supposed to be the case when the Australians come here; but in these days, when England's supremacy, even apart from Australia, has temporarily been dethroned, we cannot afford to treat their tour lightly. It is not easy to forget tnat the South Africans beat us on our own ground for the first time in their history two seasons ago, that the West Indies won the last rubber, and that the New Zealanders had the better of the games drawn in the ‘unofficial’ Test matches played agair.st the M.C.C.’s touring side last year. And, even if New Zealand does not prove itself to be stronger than when it came in 1931, the visit will introduce to us new personalities and broader interest, and add to the summer’s variety.”
