To Aid Victims of Spanish War
The -war in Spain has been raging for more than six months now and there does not seem any prospect of an early conclusipn. Frightful sufferings arc being borne by the rank and file combatants and it is for this reason that New Zealand organisations have determined to send a medical unit to Spain to aid in the work of humanity in its struggle agaiust destruction. The Health Committee of the League of Nations has stressed the point that medical aid iu Spain is an urgent necessity and that assistance given in this field irrespective of political viewpoint is work well done for civilisation and humanity. A committee has been set up in Palmerston North to bring this enterprise before citizens and to ask lor the generous aid of all humane and peaceloving people in conveying the Dunedin medical unit to Spain. An impressive list of speakers will discuss the whol j subject in the Opera House on Sunday evening. The Mayor, Mr A. E. Mansford, will preside, and Mr J. llodgens, M.P., will also address tho meeting. Dr. W. M. Smith, M.A., B. Com., whose refutation as an economist and student of international affairs is widely known, will analyse penetratingly from the viewpoints of world democracy and
