German Fashion Expert
Another dictator who recognises the psychology of dress is Herr Hitler. A few months ago the cables reported that the Fuehrer had decreed that German women and girls should wear brighter clothes and with that end in view he had directed an expert to design suitable fashions. The expert in question, Frau Margaret Klimt, recently visited London to attend an exhibition of fashions arranged by the Anglo-German Society. Thus a London correspondent: “Fashion expert Frau Margaret Klimt, whoso decrees are obeyed by 33,000,000 German women, is a rather severe critic of modern English fashions. Small and slender, with gay grey eyes, Frau Klimt is gradually turning the typical German housewife into an elegantly dressed, attractive woman." .... Referring to German women, Frau Klimt said: “They are afraid to be beautiful. They think that German men still want them to be housewives, modest, unobtrusive. But it is not so now. The women aro changing, but slowly. They are dieting to make their figures healthy and lovely."
