No injuries were sustained by the persons involved, although both vans had mudguards bent and the bicycle was extensively damaged. <S> <S> <S> <S> Falling heavily on his face from his bicycle in Fitzherbert avenue yesterday Barry Sawyer, aged 9, whose parents reside in Marton, suffered facial abrasions and concussion. He was admitted to the Palmerston North hospital and last evening his condition was satisfactory. <§><§> <S> <®> 4 ‘Sustenance money spent on beer,” declared Mr W. Low Black, J.P., yesterday, when Harry Evans, a second offender in drunkenness, pleaded guilty before Mr Black and Mr D. J. Lovelock. Evans, who -is a recipient of sustenance payments, usked for a second ehance. He was lined 10s, in default two days in prison. <s> -S> Information is being sought by the police as to the whereabouts of Madge Collins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Collins, of 335 Main street. She left home on Tuesday morning, while her mother was absent, after packing clothing, but it is understood she had no money.' The description of the missing girl is that she is 14 years of age well built, sft. 4iu. in height, has an olive complexion, brown eves, and was wearing a navy blue costume, a brown beret, black shoes and light stockings.

When tho Supreme Court sessions open at Palmerston North next Tuesday, his Honour Mr Justice Ostler will preside. In the second week his Honour Mr Justice Smith will preside. There are two criminal cases for trial, and five civil cases to be heard before a Judge and jury of twelve. One of the latter cases is the retrial of a claim for £IOOO damages in connection with an alleged share in the patent rights for a gas heater. The four others are nlotor collision claims for damages aggregating £5910. Ten divorce petitions and two bankruptcy matters are set down for hearing, and there is an appeal against tho decision of the Magistrate at Pahiatua. <S> «!> <S> George Alexander Scott, an eighteen-year-old slaughterman, who on Monday was sentenced by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., to eighteen months’ reformative detention for unlawful conversion of two motor-cycles, and who was convicted and discharged on eight charges of theft, appeared in Court again yesterday. He pleaded guilty to a further charge of stealing a wristlet watch valued at £3 10s from Maurice Kearins on July IS last. The watch was taken while Scott was employed by Ivearins and was discovered following arrest for more recent thofts. On the additional information he was convicted and discharged, Justices of the Peace expressing the hope that the sentence already imposed would be a deterrent from .further crime.
