On January 1, 1937, Mr. and Mrs. E. Griffith, of Otaki (former residents of Tokomaru), celebrated the 50th anniversary of their wedding day. A very happy time was spent among the family and friends. Mr. Griffith came from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, in the sailing ship George Gordon and landed in Dunedin in the year 1884. Mrs. Griffith, who is a native of Dunedin, was born in Dunedin. They were married on January 1, 1887, In Dunedin, afterwards living at Belfast (Christchurch), Palmerston North and Tokomaru for 35 years.
