Vice-Regal Visit to Feilding

Programme for To-day OFFICIAL WELCOME AT 11 A.M. His Excellency the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, will make his first official visit to Feilding to-day . and, given a continuance of the fine weather so far this week, there should bo a large gathering of citizens and settlers at the official welcome which will be accorded his Excellency in Munchcste'' Squaro. During his stay in Feilding his Excellency is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Levin, “Westella, ” and yesterday attended the Wanganui races.

At the welcome at 11 o'clock this morning in Manchester Square, the Mayor, Mr. T. Collins, will bo the principal speaker in extending the welcome on behalf of the town and district and will be supported by Mr. A. Campbell, chairman of the Oroua County Council, and Hon. J. G. Cobbe, M.l*. Arrangements are being completed for a guard of honour comprising returned soldiers iu charge of Major B. McLeod, president of the Feilding branch of the Returned .Soldiers’ Association.

After the ceremony in the Square his Excellency will, if convenient, bo taken for a drivo round the district and the route will include high vantage points such as Highfield road, from where an excellent view of the countryside may bo obtained. It is proposed that his Excellency should visit the sale yards during tho progress of to-day’s big sale.

His Excellency will bo tendered an official luncheon at the Feilding Hotel at 1 o’clock and in the afternoon, if time permits, he will bo taken to visit the Cheltenham Dairy Company’s butter factory at Makino and also to the Feilding Agricultural High School and later to Mt. Stewart, to the site of the proposed old settlers’ memorial. Returned soldiers are requested to parade at 10.45 a.m., and elsewhere on this page will- be found a notice directing attention to traffic requirements in connection with the welcome.
