Gibbs Wins Open Croquet Championship

MRS CORBET LADY CHAMPION. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Only two finals remained to be placed in tho croquet championships to-day aud they were played in perfect weather. Mrs Corbet (Invercargill) won tho women’s championship and A. Gibbs (Manawatu) won tho open championship.

In the women’s championship final Mrs Corbet took no chances, playing a steady and accurate game. The final of the open championship was witnessed by the largest gallery of the tournament. Gibbs’ win was his second in succession. He beat Mrs Gambrill, holder of the North Island women’s championship. Gibbs was the more accurate and his opponent's failures wero costly.

Results:— "Women’s championship final: Mrs VY. Corbet beat Mrs J. Palmer, 26—2. Open championship final: A. Gibbs beat Mrs Gambrill, 26 —10, 26—13.
