Of Local Interest

A number of residents in the borough /ave been served with notices to cut out hemlock. A councillor received one such notice and, on going through his section looking for this weed, could only find what he thought were carrots gone to seed. Making inquiries later, he was surprised to learn of Aris mistake. At the last meeting of the Borough Council a survey of name-plates was ordered. This has been done and it is now a matter for the works committee, who have power to act to replace old and erect new plates. The new post office is looking more like a completed building, although much interior work has yet to be done. It is thought that its completion will not be until well on in February. The new publie conveniences situated in one of the squares are now ready for the plasterers. The structure is of a very modern design and when finished a three-colour scheme will be carried out.
