From Our Own Correspondent. Tennis Match.
On Saturday last, a team from the local tennis elub journeyed to Pohangina to play a match against tho Pohangina Tennis Club. A very pleasant afternoon was spent by all and some interesting games were witnessed. The result was a win for Pohangina by eight sets to seven and 73 games to 72. Euchre and Dance. In the evening a euchre and danco was held in the local hall by the teuuis club. The prizes for the cards were won by Miss I. Anderson and Mrs L. Craven (consolation) in the ladies, with Mr J. O’Neil and Mr Campbell, of Ashhurst (consolation) iu the men’s section. The club’s thanks are due to Mrs W. Gosling, senr., for donating the prizes for the evening. A plentiful supper was provided by club members, after which dancing was continued J The music was kindly supplied by Mrs L. Craven, Misses G. Lawrence and M. Anderson, and Messrs A. Lawrence and L. Craven, while Mr A. Hopcroft carried out tho duties of M.C.
