Five potatoes, totalling 77£oz in weight, were recently dug from a small kitchen garden in the Kaikoura township. The potatoes were all on the same root and weighed 14J, 13J, 13£, 14£ and 21 ounces respectively. There were also several small potatoes on the root, which was grown in light shingly soil close to the beach.
