In the course of a cycling tour of the North Island, Hon. W. F. Barnard (Speaker of the House of Representatives) and a companion, Mr S. J. Bennett, of Palmerston North, passed through Whakatane on Monday on their way to Opotiki. On the journey from Rotorua a call was made at Tiki- | tere and later at the Rotoma public works camp, where the men gave them a good reception. At Whakatane they were met by Mr A. G. Hultquist, M.P. for Bay of Plenty.
