Mayor Issues Writ Against Councillor and Newspaper

Yesterday afternoon legal proceedings were taken by J. D. Wilson, Mayor of Pahiatua, against Daniel Moriarty, bororough councillor of Pahiatua, and R. Darley, printer and publisher of the Pahiatua Herald, for alleged libel, damages to the extent of £IOO being claimed in each case. The action is the result of a letter written by the former and published by the latter on January 21, 1937, in the Pahiatua Herald. The hearing is set down for February 18, 1937, at Pahiatua.
