A man who had trouble with his motor-lorry used the telephone of the Rongomai cheese factory and on leaving, a 161 b. cheese was taken. The smart work of the relieving constable at Eketahuna brought the offender to justice when ho arrived in the town. Mr R. F. Evans, of Rongomai, sustained painful injuries last week. He was driving a horse and cart and the horse became frightened at a passing lorry. Some of the harness broke and Mr Evans was precipitated from the cart, sustaining a broken nose and jaw and abrasions.
