General Motors president, Mr Sloan, wrote to the Secretary of Labour, Miss Frances Perkins, refusing flatly to participate in the Washington conference or any other negotiations until the strikers leave General Motors Corporation plants. Rioting broke up an Automobile Union meeting at Anderson, Indiana, when 2000 non-union men hurled eggs and engaged in fist fights with those attending the meeting. Six persons were injured, none seriously.
