machinery on exhibition. For the first time in the history of the Marton Show the association has decided to grant permission to the leading machinery firms to display their particular exhibits free of charge. The International Harvester Company are exhibiting the following tractors; Two plows of different types, potato-digger, two mowers (different types), manure distributor, and possibly two trucks. Messrs Gough, Gough, and Hamer, -of Palmerston North, are displaying three caterpillar tractors. The show is on Wednesday of this week. Tho grounds are ideal for picnicking parties, and all conveniences are provided. The evening programme is being presented on a lavish scale and, with stirring music by tho Wanganui Pipe Band, Highland dancing, competitions, the spectacular fireworks display, followed by a dance in the members’ room, patrons could not wish for a better evening’s entertainment. The Plunket Society have made arrangements for the Plunket nurse to be in attendance at the rest room provided at the racecourse, on show day. On account of this, the Marton Plunket room will be closed. A shilling lunch will be served by the Plunket committee at the ram fair the following day (Thursday). Judging will start as follows:—All stock at 9 a.m., pony classes at 9.15 a.m., followed by light horses at 11 a.m. up till 12.30 p.m. Draught horses at 10.30 a.m. Biding competitions at 1.30 p.m., pony jumping from 2 to 3 p.m., maiden jumping at 3.15 p.m., ladies’ jumping at 3.45 p.m., Pryce’s jumping competition of 4.15 p.m., open hunters competition at 5.15 p.m. The evening entertainment starts at 7 o’clock.
