Art Treasure Discovered at Dunedin

VALUE SET DOWN IN FOUR FIGURES. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Jan. 25. A valuable art work has been found in Dunedin, a painting which a local resident, Mr Harold Freed, purchased at auction for a modest sum being reported by Mr Barnett, a London expert who is visiting Dunedin, to be a genuine Franz Hals. The subject is the portrait of a Dutch cavalier. Mr Barnett, who consented to view the painting, stated that the picture was undoubtedly from a Flemish master. Like every great master Hals had many pupils to whose work he would add touches. Mr Barnett assesses the painting as worth from £ISOO to £2OOO.
