Runaway Victory for Martara in Summer Handicap

The summer meeting of the Wellington Racing Cluh was concluded at Trentham on Saturday in fine and sunny weather with a fresh westerly breeze. There was a large attendance. The track was in good order and the going was fast. The totalisator handled £69,223, as compared with £48,821 on the third day last year. The total for the meeting was £188,825 10s, as against £117,766, the increase being £71,059.

Won by half a head; two lengths. Recollection was fourth. Time, 2.82. The Ngatarawa trained Charade took charge early and stalled off a strong challenge in the straight by Revival. Won by half a length; three lengths. Only One was fourth. Time, 601 sec. Won all the way after stalling off a strong challenge at the finish. Won by half a head; a length. Sanhedrim was fourth. Time, 1.27. Tho Bigot made the running with Nereus and drew clear in the straight but Debham, finishing strongly, just got up. ... . Won by a length; a length and a-half. Haut Monde was fourth. Time, 1.39. Oratory and Coneertpiteh led into tVe straight where Coneertpiteh drew ahead but Rebel Lad then came with an irresistible run and won going away. Laughing Lass was also prominent and she drew out in the final furlong for a decisive win. KELBURN HANDICAP, of £300; 1 mile. 6- HELEN FORD, 8.7 (Burgess) 1 2- High Glee, car. 8.5 (Mackie) .. 2 7- Stratosphere, 8.2 (Jennings) .. 3 Also started: 5-5 Willie Win, 1-1 Cerne Abbas, 10-10 Lacquer, 8-8 Cape Gabo, 4-4 Rotoma, 3-3 Corroboree, 9-9 Ilithyia, 12-12 Laggard, 11-11 Nightlass. Won by half a head; two lengths. Corroboree was fourth. Time, 1.395. Helen Ford and Stratosphere were always prominent and Helen Ford drew out in the straight from tho leaders, when High Glee, coming strongly on the rails* just- failed to get up.
